Today Kilwinning has come a long way from its medieval beginnings. Still with many sites of architectural significance, the town underwent refurbishment (the Main Street of Kilwinning) in 2010. This was under the work of Irvine Bay Regeneration Company and subsequently led to a number of new shops and businesses opening in the town centre.
Access to the town of Kilwinning is relatively easy, with the area being serviced by three rail lines, Stagecoach Western and Shuttle Buses and excellent road links to the rest of Ayrshire. Prestwick International airport is just 13 miles away with airline operators who travel to many UK, North American and European destinations.
