The notion that the human race could be improved by selective breeding, or ‘racial refinement’ goes back many thousands of years to the time of the Greek philosophers, but eugenics really only took hold in the last one hundred years. If this had been an option in Nazi Germany, the misconceptions of pure blood and racial supremacy could have been completely blown out of the water.
